You might as well ask "What is the point of anything?", or "Why are we here?" or, "Why does the other queue always move faster?".
Very Silly Games just is. It is like the immovable force that is hit by the irresistible rock, or something.
It is a place where silliness can be unbridled, and daft games can be given free reign. No idea, however silly, can be discounted. In silliness we are all just like girls, who, to in the immortal words of Cyndi Lauper, just want to have fun.
Actually, if I can be serious for a moment, there is method in this madness. XNA is a wonderful place to write games and it makes the process much, much easier. However, if you are learning to program it is still very difficult to get to grips with XNA. The aim of VerySillyGames is to create simple games which are easy to understand and can be used to teach the fundamentals of software development. By leaving out the graphics and just using very simple game ideas to illustrate programming principles it makes it much easier to get started. It also moves the focus of game development onto the game idea, rather than the quality of the rendered environment, which might even lead to new types of gameplay.
